We are delighted to announce our latest curators for the upcoming Autumn markets in Brixton and Peckham.
Want to be a trader at either of these events? There is still time to apply by filling in the application form here, but hurry as you only have until Monday 11th July when applications will close.
Lesley Thomas is a journalist with over 20 years experience and is currently the editor of Weekend – The Times lifestyle supplement. She also writes a weekly beauty column for The Times Magazine and is a lover of great design.
Lesley is a long-time Brixton resident and began her journalism career at The Voice newspaper when it was based in Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.
She will be working with us as guest curator to select traders for our autumn market in Brixton (17 & 18 September, The Dogstar) which will form part of Brixton Design Trail – a London Design Festival design district. We will specifically be looking for design-focused products for this event. Applications close on Monday 11th July.
Carrie has been championing independent design for over 10 years and, until 2012, was one half of creative duo, Made in the Shade. She co-founded one of Scotland's most popular indie shopping events and was co-owner of Glasgow's much loved design gift shop and gallery, The Maisonette. She's helped promote the work of hundreds of artists and designer makers from all over the UK and beyond.
She started writing as Carrie Not The Kind of Girl You'd Marry in 2011 and in 2015 the blog morphed into a whole new creative experiment featuring a colourful megamix of shopping, art, comedy, writing, music and video. The Not The Kind gift shop stocks a carefully curated collection of items that walk a fine, fun line between consumer products and works of art.
'I pick products based purely on what I truly love and my product picks usually always have some kind of biographical or nostalgic element. Colour, pattern, sarcasm and humour all feature highly!'
Carrie will be working with us as guest curator to select traders for our autumn market in Peckham (8 & 9 October, CLF Art Cafe, Bussey Building). Applications close on Monday 11th July.
