Behind the Stall: Will Clarke
Occupation (i.e. would you consider yourself a full-time artist/ designer-maker, or do you have another job?):
Illustrator and Printmaker
When and why did you start doing what you do?:
A couple of years ago I started to screen print again for the first time since graduating in 2008, prior to that I was undertaking freelance illustration commissions and taking part in exhibitions. Since printing again, I have been able to turn my illustrations into limited edition prints and unique pieces within their own right.
What do you enjoy most about your craft?:
I really enjoy undertaking large drawing projects, I like to see how the artwork develops over time. I also really enjoy adding colour at the point of printing, there is always an element of the unknown so it is quite exciting.
Who are your top 5 favourite designer-makers?:
hmm, Im not so sure about designer makers but I love artists who use illustration and print in their work. So my favourites would be: Grayson Perry, Eduardo Paolozzi, L.S. Lowry, David Hockney and Peter Doig.
