Introducing our new team members!

As we get ever busier here at Crafty Fox HQ, our team is growing so that we can develop the support we offer to emerging designer/makers and artists through our markets and events.   We'd like to welcome two new members of the team, Cecily and Charlie, who will be working on special projects and assisting with events.  We asked them each four questions to introduce them both to you...

Cecily Vessey - Special Projects

Cecily Vessey

Cecily is a London-based designer/maker who has a successful retail and wholesale business producing and selling homewares and stationary.  She studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at the John Cass before deciding to focus her creativity on drawing. Her products are stocked in places such as the Design Museum, Houses of Parliament, Tate Modern and The Shard.  Cecily has traded regularly at Crafty Fox Markets.  She will be working on developing the Crafty Fox Uncovered programme and a pop-up shop project.

1. When did you first take part in a Crafty Fox Market?

I took part in the 2nd ever Crafty Fox Market back in 2010. (I think!)

2. What are you most looking forward to working on with Crafty Fox?

I am most looking forward to building the mentorship program and Crafty Fox community as well as helping to create new events and opportunities for Crafty Fox traders.

3. What is your top tip for new designer/makers?

My top tip for new designer/makers is; Don't give up if something isn't perfect straight away. Things that are worth it never are. Keep altering, improving and ask for and listen to feedback. There is always room for improvement!

4. Where's your favourite place in London?

My favourite place in London is the river front opposite the Houses of Parliament. A short walk from my house/studio, it's the most central none touristy part of the river. I love to grab a coffee from the van on the corner (it's delicious), sit on one of the benches and take in one of my favourite buildings.

Charlie Wainwright - Events Assistant

Charlie Wainwright

Charlie has a background in art and studied Art Practice at Goldsmiths.  Following graduation and several administrative roles, Charlie decided to focus on a more creative career and is currently freelancing for creative organisations while developing her making and styling skills.  Charlie has been a shopper at many of the Crafty Fox Markets and will be assisting with the work that goes on behind the scenes in the run up to and during our markets.

1. Are you a maker?

I love making things and I'm currently trying to be more creative and productive!  I particularly like sewing and embroidery, and I'm looking forward to starting an introduction to jewellery making course soon as this is something I've wanted to get into for a long time.

2. What are you most looking forward to working on with Crafty Fox?

I'm most looking forward to helping bring the markets together and working with traders to ensure they have a great experience.

3. What's been your favourite find at a Crafty Fox Market?

A set of moon collar clips from Ladybird Likes - I saw them at one market but didn't buy them then and regretted it, and then was really pleased to find them at the next market I went to! They're unusual and I always get compliments on them.

4. Where's your favourite place in London?

It depends on what I'm doing and who I'm with, but perhaps the south bank as it's got the Tate, the Hayward gallery, the Southbank Centre (with its amazing architecture and brilliant design shop), Borough market nearby, and some awesome views!
