Sheffield Market Shopping guide

This weekend we are coming to Sheffield for a very special market as part of the Weekend Of The Maker in association with Folksy and creative co-op The Roco.

Here are the curators top picks to whet your appetite:

Camilla Westergaard - Folksy

This is really difficult because there are so many designers and makers whose work I've been swooning over for years and I can't wait to meet them, see their displays and shop! But here is a trio of makers to look out for from what could have been a much longer list...

Joanna Wakefield Jewellery - Trading Sun 27th Nov

I love Joanna's work because she combines two of my favourite things - jewellery and textiles. Imagine a jeweller living in a haberdashery and you're on the right track. She also has a way of incorporating texture into her work that I think is really interesting and the way she displays her work is always beautiful too, so I know her stall will be something special.

Mister Charlesworth - Trading Sat 26th Nov

Emily mixes geometrics and florals with a gorgeously subdued colour palette and a mid-century feel. Last Christmas, my mum gave me a Mister Charlesworth screen print and it's a piece I will always treasure. It looks gorgeous in our dining room where it sits in an oak frame above the piano in all the shades of a dried hydrangea. This year, I've got my eye on her gorgeousSucculents Screen Print.

Sarah Papworth from Beetroot Press - Trading Sat 26th Nov

I may have an actual crush on Sarah. She's one of the nicest people ever and that comes through in her work, which is light and joyful – looking at her daily drawings on Instagram is one of life's genuine pleasures. Her illustration of a little scarf-wearing robin is currently on the front cover of our mini Christmas magazine, and I couldn't be prouder. I've heard Sarah is bringing lots of new prints to the market too, so I can't wait to see those.

Can I sneak in just one more? Can I? It's just a little Nook of the North. I'll bake everyone extra mince pies if one of her gorgeous stitched necklaces makes it under my tree this year.

Andrea Burns - Roco Creative Co-op

Ding Ding - Trading Sat 26th Nov

We spotted Ding Ding a while ago and instantly snapped up their hand printed clipboards for our menu holders in our cafe bar and people just love them. Having stocked these since we opened last November we have come back again this season to expand the range to include the zip bags and DIY plant pots which are such a simple but fun idea. I have a spiky cactus sat in one on my desk.

Grey Suit Clay - Trading Sat 26th Nov

Grey Suit Clay have become something of a cult brand in Sheffield over the last 12 months. The sleek but earthy stoneware finishes to their mugs, jugs and bowls speak to the 'retro east german minimalist pottery lover' in all of us which is brought bang up to date through these instantly recognisable modern shapes and colour ways. The plant hangers are a must for any self identifying botanophile, they hang on natural rope in strong support of your favourite greenery whilst steeling your eye to their beautifully crafted surfaces. Just lovely.

CAST -  Trading Sun 27th Nov
Cast have flipped the craft social on its head by offer a super refined quality lead experience in their DIY events, where over dinner or cocktails you are guided through the hand tooling of a wax mould for casting into a solid silver ring of of your designing They have now developed the product for the home market in their new box kits which we are also stocking in our design store. A really great gift for someone that little bit special.

Kayti Peschke - Crafty Fox Market

I was so excited to help choose the makers for this event and the final trader lineup is incredible, you are in for such a treat if you can make it down this weekend! I will certainly be doing all my Christmas shopping and supporting all these amazing designer makers, here are a few of my faves to look out for, but I have a feeling I will end up treating myself too, its all too tempting!

You Make Me - Trading Sat 26th Nov

I am a lover of all things colourful and kitsch so adore everything that Emily creates! She designs and laser cuts her accessories from her studio in the North East, and finds inspiration from vintage finds and retro packaging. I can’t wait to see what festive themed goodies she is bringing to the market to spice up this years decorations, and I’ve also have had my eye on her breeze block inspired earrings for a while so shall be picking up a pair of those for sure!

Scarlett and Valentine - Trading Sat 26th Nov

Sheffield local, illustrator and designer Aprille creates a colourful and bold collection of stationery and homewares, all with a playful and fun quality that just makes me smile! I’d love to pick up a few of her fabulous cushions to jazz up my sofa and think grabbing a handful of her cute prints will solve all those last minute Christmas gifts in one fell swoop!

Este Libro - Trading Sun 27th Nov

I am guilty of being the kind of girl that buys beautiful notebooks and journals, only to treasure them and never actually let any actual ink get in contact with the paper and spoil them! So when I came across Esther’s beautiful collection of handmade books I was very excited about getting my hands on them in real life. Blending modern design with ancient binding techniques, these are truly special pieces and will be a hit with all the stationery lovers who are coming down on Sunday, race you to them!
