Hannah Jean Studio

Gift cards/Home and Garden/Ceramics

Working in a range of clays from my garden studio in East London, I flit between sliptrailing, silkscreen printing and carving to decorate the surfaces of both my hand-built and wheel-thrown forms. A deep love of flora and fauna can be seen throughout my botanical range of work, which is made via the fiddly medium of screen printing my own macro photographs.

I use bold pops of colour to line the interiors of my monochromatic porcelain tableware — resulting in smooth, tactile vessels that are a pleasure to use. The pigmented clay offcuts from all of my designs get turned into richly marbled slabs of recycled clay; I produce small batches of one-off agateware pieces (such as butter dishes) using these scraps.

I aim to spark joy with my work, so in amongst the contemporary tableware designs you'll also find hand-painted 'grumpy' accessories — sweary little pin badges, brooches, cufflinks & charm necklaces — as well as marbled offcut dishes stamped with blunt observations. Life is far too short not to have plenty of fun along the way.
