I’m Maria, an artist and illustrator based in South East London. My work is inspired by nature, travel, and memories of my childhood in Romania. I discovered my love for drawing and painting at a very young age, encouraged by my mother, who proudly sold my handmade cards at her workplace and supported me at local craft fairs. That early encouragement sparked a lifelong passion for art.
I later studied Fine Arts and completed a Master’s degree at the University of Fine Arts in Cluj-Napoca, followed by a period of study in Italy. After moving to London and working as a graphic designer, I eventually returned to my true passion—illustration and painting.
Today I specialise in watercolour, creating colourful botanical pieces that evoke joy, calm, and a connection to nature. Alongside my illustrations, I create pressed flower pieces displayed in glass frames, combining delicate preserved flowers with landscape-inspired compositions.
I also design greeting cards, which I see as a simple and heartfelt way to brighten someone’s day.
In addition to my creative practice, I run workshops and art classes where I share techniques such as watercolour painting, pressed flower art, bookbinding, and hand-painting ceramic and glass decorations, helping others explore their creativity in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
