I am a Glaswegian art graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art and Urban Folklore is a collection of jewellery, decorations, objects and pictures that are inspired by the folklore of the different places that I have lived in. Think Alpine wolpertingers and krampus, American jackalopes and Scottish selkies mixed in with urban foxes and gritty objects like CCTV cameras. My work has a playful feeling where folks can combine different layers to make their own beastie brooches along with being able to purchase ready made items. The make your own jewellery and decorations are inspired by modular design such as Lego and Meccano and customers and I love that users can interact with many pieces in my collections to rearrange and use layers to suit their mood. Playfulness and illustrative storytelling are the main themes of my work!
