A day to pause, reset and reconnect with your creative practice and your community.

Venue: The Crafts Council Gallery, Islington

Running a creative business can be exciting and rewarding, but it can also be overwhelming. Creative Reset Day is an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, spend time with other makers and creative business owners, and take some space to think about what you need next.

Join us for a day of honest conversations, practical workshops, inspiration and plenty of time to connect with other creatives. Come along to learn something new, get a fresh perspective, or simply give yourself permission to pause.

10:00–10:20— Arrival

Arrival and a chance to meet other makers and creative business owners.

10:20–10:25 — Welcome to Creative Reset Day

With Catherine & Sinead, Crafty Fox Market

We’ll introduce the programme and set the scene for a day focused on reflection, connection and creative renewal.

10:25–10:40 — Make First

With Amanda Rigler, Crafts Council

Amanda Rigler from the Crafts Council will introduce Make First, sharing more about the programme and how it can support makers and craft businesses.

10.40–11:40 — Overcoming Overwhelm

With Cat Elliott

Running a creative business can feel like a constant juggling act. From making and marketing to admin, finances and the pressure to keep coming up with new ideas, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

In this practical and supportive session, Cat Elliott will explore some of the common causes of overwhelm for creative practitioners and share simple tools and strategies for managing it. We’ll look at how to identify what’s really demanding your attention, prioritise what matters, set more realistic expectations and create space to think, make and breathe.

A chance to step back from the day-to-day, reset your approach and leave with some practical ideas for making creative work feel more manageable and sustainable.

A chance to grab a drink, stretch your legs and continue the conversation.

11:45–12:30 : Workshop Choice

Time to get practical. You will have a chance to do one of these workshops in the morning and one in the afternoon:

Feeling stuck with what to post? This taster session offers practical ideas and inspiration for creating content that feels authentic, manageable and relevant to your creative business.

12:30–13:30 — Lunch, Time to Connect & Handling Collection Visit

Lunch will be provided - Falafel, salads and pitta breads (NB: we are unable to cater for individual dietary requirments).

There’s also time to chat with fellow participants and continue the conversations from the morning.

Explore the Crafts Council's Make First programme before getting up close to objects from its handling collection. A chance to discover new ideas, perspectives and inspiration through craft.

14.15 - 15.00: Unfiltered Conversations

Honest conversations about building a creative career

What does it really take to build a creative career? Anisha Parmar and Sarah Meredith (Rock Cakes) will share the highs, lows, unexpected turns and lessons they’ve learned along the way.

We’ll talk about building a business, overcoming setbacks, finding confidence, balancing creativity with the realities of running a business, and the things they wish they’d known when they started.

Expect honesty rather than polished success stories — plus plenty of time for audience questions.

15.00–15:05: Break

15.05–15:50: Keynote: The Art of Believing You Can by Judy Andrews
