Crafty Fox Community: Talks & Meetups
We host meetups and talks which provide an opportunity for our community to get together for an evening of inspiration, learning and sharing.
We are working on new dates - sign up to our mailing list to stay in the loop!
Crafty Fox Meetups are free-to-attend gatherings which take place at a variety of locations around London. The aim is simply to provide makers and those interested in what we do to get together, make connections, ask questions and learn from one another.
Crafty Fox Talks are ticketed events which run several times per year. They are more formal than the meetups with a defined theme, a panel of speakers and drinks reception.

Crafty Fox Talks: Top Tips for Pop Up Shops
Tuesday 27th September 2016, Cockpit Arts - Holborn
Guest speakers Bronwyn and Julie shared their experiences and advice for running successful pop up shops.
Bronwyn Lowenthal - Lowie (five successful pop-up shops in high traffic areas of London as well as countless fairs, markets and shows, the permanent Lowie retail store can be found in Herne Hill, South London)
Julie Macauley - John + Pearl (pop up shops at Brixton Pop (July & Dec 2015), Glastonbury Festival (June 2016), Old Street Station (June & July 2016) and will be hosting a three week pop up at Old Street Station December 2016)
The talk was held at Cockpit Arts, an award winning social enterprise and the UK’s only business incubator for craftspeople.
Crafty Fox Talks: Copycat Design - What to do if it happens to you - Tuesday 19th July, Hotel Elephant - Elephant & Castle
Illustrator Alice Tams (Birds in Hats) shared her experience with copycat designs and the many lessons she has learnt along the way. Lawyer Gavin Llewellyn (Senior Associate with Stone King and ACID Partner), who represented Alice against Sainsbury's throughout 2015, also explained the legal intricacies of creative IP, when to act and what you can do to try and prevent it happening to you.
Crafty Fox Talks: Creative Journeys - 6 June 2013, Club Workspace - Kennington
Designer Lisa Levis (nee Stickley), Lisa Comfort from Sew Over It and Sam Wingate (Mr Wingate) joined us at Club Workspace in Kennington to share their Creative Journeys. The evening was Chaired by Lisa Rodwell (Wool & the Gang). Check out the photos on facebook.
Crafty Fox Talks: How to do your own PR - 15 August 2013, Collective - Camden
In the second edition of Crafty Fox Talks we learned from a diverse panel of speakers. Perri Lewis told us about how to best to approach journalists and bloggers. Miss Cakehead spoke about the use of creative imagery and stunts and Zeena Shah shared insights on her own personal experiences of promoting her brand. Crafty Fox Talks: Making Creativity Pay - 14 November 2013, The Rag Factory E1
Sarah Corbett (Craftivist Collective), Keith and Mark from Mini Moderns and designer Jane Foster joined us for our third sold-out event. Each spoke about their experiences to date and their own mix of ingredients for a successful business. The evening was chaired by Susannah Bradley from Etsy. Crafty Fox Talks: Pimp Your Market Stall - 19 February 2014, The Dogstar - Brixton
The first Crafty Fox Talks of 2014 was all about how to make the most of the opportunities on market day. Communications coach Lois Ireson (MSB Executive) took to the stage to demonstrate techniques for engaging effectively with customers and presenting yourself in the best way possible. Seasoned traders Cecily Vessey, Rod Barker-Benfield (Rodology) and Sabine Gerth (S_Gerth) set up their stalls on stage and each gave their top tips for stall display and presentation. Crafty Fox Talks: The Nuts & Bolts of Creative Business - 7 May 2014, The Rag Factory, E1
Emma Jones (Enterprise Nation) spoke about writing a business plan, finding funding (if needed) and the importance of surrounding yourself with a support network when starting a business. She also spoke about the 'Nuts & Bolts' of tax obligations, VAT registration and pricing formulas. Caroline Rowland (91 Magazine) told us about her journey from starting the Patchwork Harmony blog to quitting her dayjob and running 91 Magazine - one of the UK's most popular online craft and interiors magazines. Finally Zoe from Ladybird Likes gave a very honest account of her day-to-day life as a designer maker and the things she has learnt since starting and growing her successful jewellery business. Crafty Fox Talks: Crowd Funding for Creatives - 24 February 2015 - MOO, Scrutton Street, EC2A
A talk for anyone exploring how to raise money using crowdfunding. We brought together a panel of speakers to tell their stories and teach others how to run successful campaigns. It all went down at the MOO offices in Shoreditch. Thank you to panellists Howard Kingston (Adludio) , Kelly Angood (Popup Pinhole Company) and Jayne Rutland (Hairy Jayne).
