Crafty Fox Market at The National Theatre

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Crafty Fox Samples & Seconds Sale at The National Theatre on Sunday 16th August 2026. You will find the trader listings for the event here so do take a look to familiarise yourself with your fellow traders ahead of the market.

We will also have Amy, your Market Host, to welcome you and to help with any issues and our Content Producer, Panch, who will capture video and photo on the day. Venue: The National Theatre is one of the UK’s most iconic cultural institutions, situated on London’s South Bank. Its landmark building attracts audiences and visitors from across London and beyond. The market will take place in the spacious ground floor foyer.

Key Information:
Your stall consists of a standard 6’ x 2.5’ trestle table and one chair. Please be aware The National Theatre is providing furniture and has mentioned there might be slight variation in table shapes/sizes.
The stands will be numbered and have your trading name on them. Please seek out one of our stewards upon arrival who will guide you to your table.
As with all our markets, you are welcome to bring display structures to place on top of your table to create interest and height at no extra cost. Please ensure any structures which sit on top of your table / stall are securely fastened or clamped to prevent them falling.
Stands are not equipped with an electricity supply.
Please remember that the ethos of Crafty Fox is supporting designer makers and handmade goods. In the past, one or two traders have mixed imported goods in with their own items. Please stick to handmade/UK produced goods only to uphold the integrity of the event.
Please remember that this is a sample & seconds sale so at least 50% of your stock needs to be discounted (unless you are trading on the Step Up Programme). The remaining 50% can be made up of full price items if you wish to bring these.
The market will be split into the Samples & Seconds Sale and Step Up Traders. As a reminder, Step Up is our education programme supporting 11 new creative businesses to trade with us for the first time. While we will have signage up, we also recommend clearly showing signage on your stall of your sale prices and ranges.
Set up:
Set up on the Saturday is from 9.00am, and your stand must be ready in advance of 10am when the event is scheduled to start.
Please arrive to the main entrance of the National Theatre at 8.45am to be registered by the National Theatre team. This will take place outside the building to ensure that you can maximise the 1 hour set up time.
Please do not arrive before this time as we won’t be able to accommodate you. We ask also that you stay till the end of the event at 5pm. At the end of the event please take away all your rubbish with you. We are trying to run a sustainable event generating as little rubbish as possible.
Additional structures:
Please note that if you plan on bringing any additional free-standing structures which are not sitting directly on the table top (including art browsers, clothing rails, shelving units, peg boards, etc) these must be paid for in advance so that we know where to place these on our table plan.
Walkways have to be kept clear of obstructions at all times to allow for good crowd flow and to prevent delay in evacuation should there be an emergency.

Other information:
No naked flames are allowed so if you are displaying items which use candles, please ensure you use battery powered alternatives.
We advise you to bring clamps or other fixing devices to ensure that your table top is secure in the event of a customer or fellow trader accidentally knocking into it.
Please do not bring any pop up banners.
There are a number of onsite cafés.
The National Theatre staff will support you to log into the staff Wi-Fi network for your payment devices. Please DO NOT add personal devices to this network (there is free public Wi-Fi for this) as we want to enable to Wi-Fi for payments to run as efficiently and quickly as possible. You will also be able to use 5G connections.
We strongly encourage you to bring additional battery powered lights to highlight your stall. The concrete structures can make the National Theatre appear dark and, as this is our first market, we won’t know how natural light will interact with the space.
Travelling to the National Theatre by public transport:
The address for The National Theatre is: National Theatre, Upper Ground, Southbank, SE1 9PX.
If you are arriving by public transport, the nearest tube stations are Waterloo (5-minute walk), Southwark (10-minute walk) or Embankment (10-minute walk). You can plan your journey using the TFL journey planner
For National Rail, Waterloo, Waterloo East and Charing Cross train stations are all a 10–15-minute walk away from the National. You can check train times and service updates on the National Rail website. Please note: London Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations will be closed from Sunday 26 July to Sunday 16 August 2026.
Southwark station has step-free access from jubilee line platforms to street. Waterloo also has step-free access from the jubilee line, with lift access from Waterloo Road/mainline station. the northern, Bakerloo and Waterloo & City line aren’t fully step free. Embankment is not step free.
Nearest bus stops are on Waterloo Bridge, Waterloo Road and Stamford Street.

Travelling to the National Theatre by car:
The National Theatre has a car park in the south-west corner of the building on Upper Ground. The What 3 Words for the car park entrance is: order.apron.device
This will be offered to traders for £7 for the day, a National Theatre staff member will check-in if you’ve parked in the car park and provide a QR code to scan and pay for parking.
There is a step-free route up from the Car Park to the foyer using lifts. It is recommended that you initially park in disabled bays, which are closer to the lifts, put your stock into the National Theatre and then move your car into an access bay.
Please note the traffic flows along Upper Ground and Belvedere Road (the road behind the National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall). If you turn right onto Upper Ground when exiting our car park and continue westbound under Waterloo Bridge onto Belvedere Road, you will incur a fine.
There are two options to leave the area: either turn left out of our car park onto Upper Ground and then take the immediate right onto Cornwall Road and exit out of the area via that route. Or, turn right out of our car park onto Upper Ground and then, before driving under Waterloo Bridge, take the first left onto the slip road up to the Waterloo/IMAX roundabout.

Cash:
The closest cash mchine is on the The Cut, a 7-10 minute walk away, at Tesco Express (The Cut, SE1 8LZ) and Sainsbury’s Local (55A The Cut, SE1 8LL). We’d suggest attending the market with a float prepared in advance for you to use should you receive cash payments.
Toilets:
There are a number of toilets in the building across multiple floors.
