A visit to our Sample & Seconds Sale at the National Theatre is about more than discovering brilliant independent makers at discounted prices. Alongside over 40 carefully curated creative businesses selling samples, seconds and one-off pieces, we've put together a programme of hands-on workshops where you can learn a new skill and make something of your own.
Taking place on Sunday 16 August at The National Theatre, our workshops are suitable for all experience levels and offer the chance to spend time getting creative between browsing the market. Whether you're looking to try a new craft or simply enjoy a creative day out on the South Bank, there's something for every curious maker.

Botanical Floral Cards: A Mono-Printing Escape with Tipperleyhill (£15.00)
Slow down, experiment, and bring the beauty of nature to life.
Join Roz from art duo Tipperleyhill for a delightful, hands on workshop exploring the magic of mono-printing. In this relaxed session, you will learn how to transfer real botanical shapes and floral textures onto beautiful watercolour greeting cards.
With Roz’s expert guidance and encouraging tips, you will play with vibrant acrylic inks to build up rich layers of colour and detail. It is a wonderfully freeing process where there are no mistakes, just pure, creative experimentation.
You will leave with your own unique, hand printed greeting cards to share with loved ones, plus an easy, brilliant new technique to use in your future artwork.

Mindful Mandala Dots: A Creative Reset with Tipperleyhill (£15.00)
Join Roz from art duo Tipperleyhill for a blissful, one hour creative escape. In this relaxed workshop, you will step away from the noise of the day and immerse yourself in the soothing world of patterns.
No painting or drawing skills are required. We will provide you with a stunning, pre-printed mandala base in gorgeous, vibrant colours. Using a spectrum of colourful sticky dots, you will mindfully layer, design, and texture the pattern to make it entirely your own.
It is the perfect, low-pressure creative reset, part art class, part colourful meditation. You will leave with a beautiful, finished mandala masterpiece in a frame (and a wonderfully quiet mind).

Craft your own one-of-a-kind cup or bowl with Noriko Nagaoka (£43.00)
Get ready to get your hands dirty and have a blast crafting your own one-of-a-kind cups or bowls in this fun, in-person workshop. Noriko Nagaoka will guide you step-by-step, sharing tips to create pieces you'll be proud to show off. Perfect for all skill levels—come express your creativity and enjoy a relaxed, friendly vibe!
You will make cups (a set of two) or a mug or a bowl, having a smooth finish or decorated with leaves and stamps of your choice.
A pinch pot is a basic style of pottery produced by thinning the clay walls through a forefinger and thumb pinching process. This form of pottery has been made since antiquity up to the present. Pottery created using this technique can be both ornamental and functional.
What is included: 400g stoneware clay, glaze, bisc and glaze firing cost, 1 hour & 30mins lesson, all the tools.
